Last month we wrapped up our annual holiday giving program, and honestly? It was pretty awesome seeing what our team cares about.
Instead of picking charities ourselves, we let everyone nominate causes that actually matter to them personally. The stories people shared hit hard in the best way.
Amanda said it best: “Our team’s passion for giving back is truly inspiring. This campaign reflected the values we hold dear—compassion, community, and connection. It was an honor to support the causes that mean so much to our employees and their families.”
Here’s some of what people chose and why:
Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research
“My dad passed away this year after a short fight with Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. More effective treatments need to be researched, and I wanted to honor his memory by supporting this cause.”
Girls on the Run
“This organization helps girls develop confidence, relational skills, and healthy habits. It empowers them to set goals and teaches them how it feels to achieve those goals. It’s a wonderful way for girls to build friendships and self-trust at an early age.”
Saving Great Animals
“I adopted our dog Max from this rescue. They go above and beyond to help animals that other rescues might not. They even raised $30K to save Max and his littermates when they had Parvo. Their mission to save pets and unite them with forever families is incredible.”
Sawhorse Revolution
“This nonprofit empowers local youth through hands-on learning, pairing high school students with professional builders to create community-centered projects. Their work fosters confidence, practical skills, and leadership in young people, especially those from underserved neighborhoods.”
Lavender Rights Project
“This Black Trans feminist organization is committed to dismantling oppressive systems that disproportionately harm Black communities. I’m familiar with their work, and they continue to make an impact in the community.”
West Seattle Food Bank
“I believe in their mission to support our community and help those in need. They provide essential resources to families facing food insecurity and work tirelessly to ensure everyone has access to nutritious meals.”
The range was incredible – everything from animal rescues to food banks to youth programs to organizations fighting for marginalized communities. Really showed how different everyone’s experiences and passions are.
It felt good to support behind the things our people genuinely care about, instead of just writing a check to some big-name charity because it looks good. This stuff was real.
